A snowy-day theme for Chiikawa, Hachiware and Usagi
The key visual sets the tone straight away. Chiikawa, Hachiware and Usagi are bundled up and playing in the snow, and the clothes pick up the same feeling with winter patterns, warm textures and plenty of little character details. GU has worked with Chiikawa before, and those earlier collabs proved hugely popular in Japan, so this winter edition is likely to draw big interest when the pre-order window opens.
What makes this line-up stand out is how wearable it is. Instead of large printed graphics on every piece, many of the designs weave the characters into classic knit patterns, so they feel like proper winter clothes with a playful twist. That should appeal to fans who want something cute but still easy to wear every day.
Wave 1: knits, sweats and a pouch from 20 November
The first release on 20 November focuses on outerwear and knitwear. For women, there is a sweat hoodie, a Nordic sweater and a jacquard sweater. The Nordic sweater uses a traditional snowflake-style pattern with the characters tucked into the design, while the jacquard sweater knits the trio directly into the fabric for a more graphic look.

Men get a sweat pullover, and the kids range includes a puffy-touch knit, a Nordic sweater and a sweat pullover so younger fans can match with the grown-ups. There is also a pouch in the first wave, a handy option for anyone who wants a smaller piece of the collab rather than a whole outfit.

Sweats for everyday wear
The sweat pieces are the most casual part of the range. They feature soft character artwork on a comfortable base, making them easy to layer under a coat on a cold day or wear around the house at the weekend. With versions for women, men and kids, the sweats are also the easiest way for a whole family to match.

The Usagi pouch
Usagi fans will want to look closely at the pouch. It features the character's cheeky expression and works well as a cosmetics bag, a pencil case or a place for small everyday items. Accessories like this often sell out fastest in GU collabs, as fans pick them up alongside clothing or as an easy gift.

Wave 2: Marshmallow Feel roomwear from 27 November
The second release on 27 November is all about staying cosy at home. GU's Marshmallow Feel fabric is known for being very soft and fluffy, and the women's range includes a Marshmallow Feel set, a hairband and a two-pair set of room socks. Men and kids get Marshmallow Feel lounge sets too. These pieces are perfect for winter evenings and would make lovely Christmas presents for Chiikawa fans.
How the online pre-order works
GU will run an online pre-order on its Japanese online store from 07:15 on 2 November until 23:59 on 8 November Japan time. In the UK, that means the window opens at 22:15 tonight, Sunday 1 November, and closes at 14:59 on Sunday 8 November. GU notes the pre-order may end early if items sell out, and per-person purchase limits apply. After that, the items go on general sale in stores and online on their release days, with online sales starting at 07:15 Japan time.
