How Gashapon Online Works at Otaku Daily: Draw Japanese Capsule Toys Yourself

Gashapon has been a favourite in Japan for decades, and now you can enjoy that same capsule-toy thrill from home. With Gashapon Online at Otaku Daily, you buy a random draw, pay as normal and then draw your capsules yourself on our online gashapon machine, with your prizes posted out with your order.

This guide explains what gashapon is, how to find Gashapon Online items in our shop, how the draw works after checkout and what happens when you buy a complete set instead.

What is gashapon?

Gashapon (also spelt gachapon) are Japanese capsule toys. Traditionally you turn the handle on a vending machine and out rolls a plastic capsule holding one random item from a series, such as a mini figure, keyring, charm or acrylic stand. Most series have a handful of designs, and you never know which one you will get until the capsule opens. That element of surprise is exactly what makes gashapon so much fun to collect.

Gashapon Online brings that moment online. Instead of us drawing a random item for you, you draw it yourself on our dedicated draw page, the Otaku Daily Online Gashapon machine.

How to find Gashapon Online items

There are two easy ways to find items you can draw yourself. Both work on mobile and desktop.

Step 1: open the Blind Box & Gachapon category. Open the menu, tap Merch & Goods, then choose Blind Box & Gachapon. OR Simply click "Gashapon Online" from the Bar.

Step 2: tap Filter. On the Blind Box & Gachapon page, tap Filter above the product grid.

Step 3: choose Product Type, then Gashapon online. Tick Gashapon online so that only items with an online draw are shown.

Step 4: pick a series. Every item now listed is one you can draw yourself. Open any series to see its line-up, then choose your option.

Buying a random draw

On a Gashapon Online product page, choose the random-draw option, labelled Random 1pc or 1 Draw depending on the listing. Each unit of that option is one draw, so if you would like four capsules, simply set the quantity to four. As with a real capsule machine, you cannot choose which design you get.

Then check out in the usual way. Only the random-draw units in your basket count as draws, so you can happily mix gashapon with other items in the same order.

Drawing your gashapon after checkout

Once your payment goes through, you are taken automatically from the order confirmation page to Otaku Daily Online Gashapon, with your order number already filled in. Spin the machine and open each capsule to reveal what you have won.

You do not have to draw straight away. There is no time limit, and any unused draws stay on your order. To come back later, open gacha.otakudailyshop.co.uk at any time and type your order number without the # symbol. Please note that the order confirmation email does not include a draw link, so it is worth bookmarking the page.

Your draws come from the machine's real remaining stock, so just like a capsule machine in Japan, duplicates can happen, and prizes cannot be swapped or traded. Your prizes are then packed and shipped with your order, just like any other item.

Complete sets do not need a draw

If you would rather have the whole series, choose the Complete Set option where it is offered. You receive every design in the set, so there is nothing to draw. The same goes for items where you pick a specific design yourself, and for products that are not tagged Gashapon online: these are shipped as ordered, without a draw.

Halloween sale

From 10 to 31 October, our Halloween sale gives you up to 10% off. Simply enter the code HALLOWEEN2026 at checkout. It is a lovely excuse to try a few extra draws.

Frequently asked questions

How many draws do I get? One draw for each unit of the random-draw option you buy. Buy more units for more draws.

The draw page says "Order number not found". What should I do? First, check that you typed the order number without the #. If it still does not work, the order may not include a random-draw Gashapon Online item, or it may be unpaid or cancelled.

Can I get duplicates? Yes. Draws come from the machine's real stock, so duplicates are possible, and prizes cannot be swapped.

Do I need to draw for a Complete Set? No. Complete sets contain every design, so they ship without a draw.

Does Blindbox sold in same way? No. Blindboxes are sold sealed, so we'll send the item to you directly to open the box. (No drawing online)
