Kotobukiya Magic Knight Rayearth Umi Ryuuzaki Scale Figure: Pre-orders Open for July 2027, Fuu Hououji in Development

Oct 29,2026 | Otaku Daily Shop UK

The Magic Knights are assembling. After Hikaru Shidou, Kotobukiya has opened pre-orders for its next Magic Knight Rayearth scale figure, Umi Ryuuzaki, the elegant Magic Knight of Water. The 1/7 scale figure captures Umi mid-battle with her sword raised and her long blue hair sweeping around her, and it is due for release in July 2027. Better still, Kotobukiya has confirmed that Fuu Hououji is also in development, so the full trio is on the way.

Umi, the Magic Knight of Water

Magic Knight Rayearth is one of CLAMP's best-loved works. Three schoolgirls, Hikaru, Umi and Fuu, are summoned to the magical world of Cephiro and asked to become legendary Magic Knights. Umi is the proud, quick-witted fencer of the group, tied to the element of water, and she has always been a fan favourite for her mix of confidence and loyalty.

The TV anime, produced by TMS and first broadcast in the mid-1990s, brought CLAMP's colourful fantasy world to a whole generation of viewers, and its mix of magical girl and mecha adventure still feels unique today. The series has enjoyed a strong revival in recent years, with new exhibitions, art books and collectables keeping the Magic Knights in the spotlight for long-time fans and newcomers alike.

Kotobukiya's figure leans into that character. Umi holds her sword with a dignified gaze, standing in a powerful pose that feels like a single moment captured from a battle scene. Her hair and skirt fan out dramatically, giving the whole figure a strong sense of movement.

A splashing water base

The base is one of the highlights. Kotobukiya has used translucent parts to create splash effects that rise up around Umi's feet like a surging water current, a perfect nod to her element. It gives the figure a vivid, three-dimensional look and helps it stand out on a display shelf.

Paintwork and detail

The colouring of Umi's outfit and armour pieces highlights the different textures, from the soft fabric of her skirt to the hard shine of her accessories. Delicate gradations and precise colour separation give the figure a premium finish, while sculptor HIDE has paid close attention to her flowing hair, which spreads out widely behind her.

Who is this figure for?

If you grew up with Rayearth, Umi is an easy choice: she is shown at full strength, in the outfit and armour fans remember, rather than as a chibi or prize-style version. At 26cm tall she sits comfortably alongside other 1/7 scale figures, so she will blend well into an existing shelf of anime statues. She is also a great entry point for newer CLAMP fans who discovered the studio through Cardcaptor Sakura or xxxHOLiC and want something that celebrates its earlier work.

As always with announcements at this stage, Kotobukiya notes that the photos show a prototype, so small details may change before release.

Hikaru, Umi and Fuu together

Umi follows Kotobukiya's Hikaru Shidou figure, and the two are designed to stand side by side. With Fuu Hououji now in development, collectors will be able to line up all three Magic Knights together, each with a base that reflects her own element. It is a great time to start the set if you have not already.
