Chiikawa Otaru Store Exclusives: Stained Glass, Shimaenaga and Retro Hokkaido Goods You Can Pre-order in the UK

Nov 03,2026 | Otaku Daily Shop UK

Some of the most charming Chiikawa goods are the ones you can normally only find in one place. The Chiikawa store in Otaru, the historic canal town in Hokkaido, opened on 18 July 2026 on Sakaimachi Street, and it comes with its own range of store-exclusive goods. The designs celebrate everything Otaru is known for: stained glass, retro shop signs, soft-serve ice cream and the snow-white Shimaenaga, the tiny long-tailed tit that is a much-loved symbol of Hokkaido. Here is a look at the highlights and how to get them from the UK.

Why Otaru?

Otaru is one of Hokkaido's most popular day trips from Sapporo. Its old stone warehouses line the canal, and Sakaimachi Street is famous for glassworks, music boxes and sweet shops. It makes sense that the Chiikawa range leans into that history. Instead of simply putting the characters on standard goods, the Otaru designs place Chiikawa and friends inside round stained-glass frames in deep blue and gold, with the word OTARU worked into the pattern. The result feels like a proper souvenir of the town, which is exactly what store-exclusive goods should be.

Stained glass chopstick rests

The standout pieces are the stained glass chopstick rests. Each one is made of glass, about 40mm across and 10mm deep, and shows a character in a circular stained-glass design. There are eight to collect, and each is listed separately at Otaku Daily:

They are useful at the dinner table, but many fans simply use them as little display pieces or paperweights, as the glass catches the light beautifully on a windowsill.

Trading acrylic stands: stained glass and Shimaenaga

There are two trading acrylic stand sets, each with eight designs. The Trading Stained Glass Acrylic Stand continues the blue-and-gold window theme, with each character framed in an arched stained-glass panel. Each stand is about 65 x 60mm, and the box set brings all eight together.

The Trading Shimaenaga Round Acrylic Stand is pure Hokkaido. Each character wears a fluffy white Shimaenaga costume, complete with the bird's round body and tiny beak, inside a soft round frame. If you love the Chiikawa costume designs, this is one of the cutest sets of the year.

Cow tabi socks

For something a little different, the cow tabi socks split the toe in the traditional Japanese tabi style and add a cow print with a character face. They fit feet of about 22 to 25cm. There are three designs: Chiikawa, Hachiware and Usagi. The cow theme is a nod to Hokkaido's dairy farms, which are behind the region's famous milk and soft-serve.

Retro clear files and a zip-up hoodie

Two A4 soft-touch clear files bring Otaru's retro streets to your desk. The Retro Signboard Clear File covers a red brick wall with vintage-style shop signs featuring the characters, and the Soft Serve Clear File scatters the gang and their ice creams across a pale pattern.

Finally, the Retro Zip-up Hoodie in navy is a cosy, understated piece with small embroidered detail, perfect for a cold UK winter.

Why store exclusives are worth grabbing

Store-exclusive Chiikawa goods are made for one shop, and they are not part of the regular range sold across Japan. That makes them hard to find later, especially once a design sells out. Ordering through a UK shop means you do not need to plan a trip to Hokkaido to complete your set.

Chiikawa at Otaku Daily

Alongside the Otaru range, we stock exclusives from other Chiikawa stores, plus plush, mascots, stationery and more. Browse our Chiikawa collection, where new Chiikawa pre-orders are added every week.

At Otaku Daily you can choose how to pay for pre-orders: pay in full or a 30% deposit, depending on the listing. See our Pre-order info page for how it works.
