Chiikawa Bakery Week: Okinawa Pop-Up (1 to 12 October) and 2nd Anniversary Corone Mascots (15 October)

Sep 29,2026 | Otaku Daily Shop UK

October is shaping up to be a very busy month for Chiikawa Bakery. Within a fortnight there are two separate headline events: a first-ever pop-up in Okinawa, running from Thursday 1 October to Monday 12 October 2026, and a 2nd Anniversary collection of eight "Corone" mascots that arrives on Thursday 15 October, two weeks ahead of the Omotesando bakery's own second birthday on 29 October. Here is a clear, fan-friendly round-up of both, based on the official announcements made on 18 and 28 September.

Chiikawa Bakery Okinawa pop-up: 1 to 12 October

The Okinawa pop-up is the bakery's first event in the prefecture. It takes place in the 6th-floor event space of a department store in Naha and runs from 1 to 12 October 2026. Opening hours are 10:00 to 20:00 Japan time, which is 02:00 to 12:00 in the UK, and the final day closes early at 17:00 Japan time (09:00 UK time).

  • Dates: Thursday 1 October to Monday 12 October 2026.
  • Location: 6th-floor event space, Naha, Okinawa.
  • Hours: 10:00 to 20:00 Japan time (02:00 to 12:00 UK time); 12 October closes at 17:00 Japan time (09:00 UK time).
  • Opening day entry: on 1 October, entry is by a digital numbered ticket, and updates will be shared on the pop-up's official X account, "Chiikawa Bakery POP UP CARAVAN".
  • Stamp card: no digital stamp card is planned for this event.

The Okinawa-only loaf and the everyday line-up

The star of the pop-up is a loaf that exists only in Okinawa. It is a Chiikawa-shaped bread flavoured with brown sugar, a nod to the region's famous kokuto. Alongside it sit the regular character loaves: Chiikawa (honey), Hachiware (chocolate) and Usagi (cheese). If you like your merchandise with a sense of place, the Okinawa loaf is exactly the kind of regional exclusive that collectors enjoy hearing about.

Beyond the bread, the pop-up range includes Staff mascots and Sandwich mascots, cookie tins, an eco bag, a candy pouch, flake stickers and mini trays. Anyone ordering a drink receives a random coaster, and there are 12 designs to collect. We are focusing on the character goods here, because bakery items themselves are freshly baked in Japan and are not something we can help with.

The 2nd Anniversary: eight Corone mascots from 15 October

The bakery in Omotesando, on the third floor of Tokyu Plaza Omokado, turns two on Thursday 29 October. To celebrate, a special anniversary range begins on Thursday 15 October. The headline is a set of eight "Corone" mascots. The eight characters are Chiikawa, Hachiware, Usagi, Momonga, Kurimanju, Rakko, Shisa and Furuhonya.

The anniversary collection is not just plush. Also announced are a rooibos tea tin, two long-sleeve T-shirts (a beige "Pan-na Minna" design and a white "Menu" design), a knitted cardigan and a bandana. The illustrated lineup is cheerful and cosy, with the bakery's brown-and-cream palette running through every item.

Extra treats for anniversary shoppers in Japan

Some of the bonuses are tied to shopping in person, so they are worth knowing about even if you are following from afar:

  • Per-receipt gift: each receipt comes with a matte badge and a second coaster, while stocks last.
  • Anniversary lunch box: a size M lunch box is given on 29 October to bread-counter customers, excluding purchases of the three character loaves.
  • Harajuku photo booth: the Laforet Harajuku basement-floor pop-up adds a photo booth from Tuesday 6 October.

Details such as which anniversary goods are available at other locations or online have not been confirmed in the announcements we have seen, so we are not making any claims about them. Everything above is based on the official releases, and items or dates can change.
